About the Artist
Meet Megan Gray, the hands behind Gray Barns Pottery. An eighth-generation Vermont native, she draws inspiration from the cycles of nature.
“Life’s greatest wonder to me has always been the natural world and the turning of the seasons. In Vermont, we live in rhythm with the weather; it shapes the pace and texture of our lives. Winter is time to indulge in the simple pleasure of being cozy; going inward to recover and prepare for the world to awaken. You don’t truly understand happiness until the first daffodils emerge after months of bitter cold.
Though autumn and winter often receive the most praise, the true star of Vermont’s seasons is summer. We are again, able to see why it once inspired the name “The Green Mountain State”. A perfectly lazy summer day by the river remains unmatched. Then comes autumn, with its brilliant colors and cold, crisp mornings. Along with this, the many preparations to be made before the snow falls. Each season offers its own gifts, and together they are what make Vermont so special.
This collection is an offering shaped by those rhythms, meant to integrate the magic of turning seasons into daily life. Cozy mugs for dark winter mornings. Generous salad bowls for serving loved ones at spring gatherings and autumn feasts. Fermentation jars for storing the garden's bounty to be enjoyed when the world is cold and dark once more.
Art is meant to feed the soul, and I hope these pieces inspire a deeper connection to the land upon which we stand.”
